Anchormen Win Third Straight To Improve to 6-1 |

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College
junior guard Justin Lopez (Providence, RI) made his
first career start and pumped in a career-best 12 points on
four three-pointers as the Anchormen downed Salve Regina,
83-72, in a battle of intra-state rivals Tuesday evening at
The Murray Center. RIC wins its third straight game to
improve to 6-1. Salve Regina drops its fourth straight and
falls to 1-5. |

Rhode
Island College answered the bell every time the Seahawks
made a run. The Anchormen enjoyed their largest lead of the
game, posting a 75-62 advantage on a jumper by freshman
guard Antone Gray (Providence, RI) with 3:54
remaining in the game. |

|
Salve
Regina whittled the RIC lead under 10 points on three
occasion, getting as close as two-points, 59-57, on a jumper
by junior guard Joe DeSantis (Trumbull, CT) with
11:35 left in the second half. RIC used an 8-0 run, capped
by two free throws by junior center Wil Lyons (Warwick,
RI) with 8:01 left, to take a 67-57 lead and cruised to
the 11-point decision. |

Junior guard Bobby Bailey (Fall River, MA) returned
to the lineup after missing the past three games and
connected on his first two field goals attempts. Bailey
finished with 16 points, four boards and three assists. Hill
had another monster performance, pumping in a season and
game-high 22 points to go along with five rebounds and two
steals. Junior forward Kaseem Johnson (New Haven, CT)
posted 10 points and eight boards. |

Salve
Regina had four players score in double figures, led by
junior guard Justin Woodworth’s (Ipswich, MA) 17
points and game-high 10 rebounds. DeSantis netted 16 points,
while senior forward Steve Walsh (Manchester, NH)
contributed 13 points and seven rebounds. |

|
In
upcoming action, Rhode Island College will square off at
Keene State on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. in a battle of
Little East Conference heavyweights. The Seahawks will host
Connecticut College on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. |
