Rhode
Island College Men’s & Women’s Indoor Track & Field Competes at
Harvard Invitational |
|

|
Cambridge,
MA—The
Rhode Island College men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams
competed at the Harvard Open Track Meet on Saturday, Dec. 8. The
Anchormen and Anchorwomen saw action against primarily Div. I and
Div. II competition at this individual meet. |
|
|
|
For the men,
sophomore Max Willett (Portsmouth, RI) tied for sixth in the
long jump with a 6.29-meter effort. The top five were all from Div.
I and Div. II institutions. Junior Dante Lopardo (Johnston, RI)
took eighth in the high jump at 1.85 meters. Seniors Mike Van
Gieson (Foster, RI) and John Martinelli (North Providence,
RI) placed 10th in the 400 and 200 meters with times
of 52.09 and 23.51, respectively. Freshman Alex Burakoff
(Stoughton, MA) placed 11th in the shot with a 12.07
meter-effort. |

For the
women, freshman Steina Flemming (Tortola, BVI) placed third in
the 60 meters with a time 7.90. The top two were from Div. I
institutions. Junior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) tied for
eighth in the high jump with a 1.55-meter effort. Junior Mary
Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed sixth in the weight throw
with a 12.36-meter effort. |

Kevin Jackson’s are off for finals and the holidays. RIC will
resume competition on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Yale University
Invitational. |
