Rhode Island College Wrestling Ranked 18^th Nationally
Bonora Holds Top Spot at 141 lbs.

Providence, RI—The Rhode Island College wrestling team is ranked No. 18 in the nation (Div. III) in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association poll for the second straight listing. The Anchormen also rank No. 1 in New England (Div. III) for the fourth consecutive week in the most recent New England Wrestling Association poll.

Senior Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) is ranked No. 1 in the nation and in New England at 141 lbs. Bonora raised his unbeaten record to 17-0 against Wesleyan University, out pointing his opposition 17-7. He has captured three individual championships on the campaign, winning the RIT Invitational, Doug Parker Invitational, and the Roger Williams Invitational. Bononra has totaled 68 takedowns, five reversals, 17 near-falls and six pins on the season.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Jay Jones, the Anchormen are currently 3-0 overall, 3-0 against New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) opponents and 1-0 in the Pilgrim Wrestling League. RIC overpowered Wesleyan University, 28-7, on Dec. 7 to close out the fall semester with an unbeaten mark. Rhode Island College is enjoying the program's fastest start since the 2004-05 squad won its opening six dual matches.

In upcoming action, the Anchormen will compete in the highly-competitive Budd Whitehill Duals on Jan 11-12.
