Flemming Establishes New 55-meter
Record
Sophomore Provisionally
Qualifies for NCAAs at Wesleyan Invitational

|
Providence, RI—The
Rhode Island College women’s indoor track and field team took part
in the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26. It was an
individual meet with no team scoring. |
|
|
|
|
|
Sophomore Steina Flemming (Tortola, BVI)
established a new school record in the 55 meters, placing second in
the finals with a time of 7.32, which provisionally qualifies her
for the NCAA Div. III Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Flemming placed third in the preliminaries with a time of 7.47. |

Junior
Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) had another consistent meet,
placing third in the high jump at 1.56 meters, while logging a 10th
place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:35.27. She also
placed fifth in the long jump with a 4.77-meter effort. |

Freshman
Kayla DiBlasi (Smithfield, RI) placed sixth in the preliminaries
of the 55 meter hurdles and eighth in the finals with times of 9.48
and 9.54, respectively. |

|
Junior
Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed second in the weight
throw at 12.22 meters. |
|
|
|
Sophomore
Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed third in the weight
throw and seventh in the shot with efforts of 11.77 and 9.62 meters,
respectively. |

|
Head Coach
Kevin Jackson’s team will next see action at the University of
Rhode Island’s Mega Meet on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2. |
