KAYLA FLEMING EARNS ALL-NEW
ENGLAND HONORS AT INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Northampton,
MA—Rhode
Island College junior Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) garnered
All-New England honors at the N.E. Div. III Championships, hosted by
Smith on Saturday, Feb. 23. |

|
She earned
All-New England honors in the high jump, placing sixth with a
1.53-meter effort. She also placed 12th in the long jump
with a leap of 4.69 meters and 13th in the 1,000 meters
with a time of 3:06.06. |

|
|
|
Junior
Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI) placed ninth in the weight
throw with a distance of 12.77 meters. Freshmen Kayla DiBlasi
(Smithfield, RI) and Jamie Nunes (Lincoln, RI) placed 13th
and 14th in the preliminary round of the 55 meter hurdles
with times of 9.41 and 9.46, respectively. |

Head Coach
Kevin Jackson’s team tied for 20th place (25 teams)
with a score of 3.0. Tufts won the meet with a team score of 136. In
upcoming action, RIC will compete at the New England Open
Championships, hosted by Boston University on Friday and Saturday,
Feb. 29-Mar. 1. |
