Five From Rhode Island College Earn
All-Little East Distinction in Men’s Basketball
|

|
|
Providence, RI—Five
members of the Rhode Island College men’s basketball team were
honored by the Little East Conference for their performance this
season. |
|
|
|
|
|
Junior guard
Tirrell Hill (Bronx, NY) was named First Team All-Little
East. Hill has played in 28 games, starting 27 of them. He is
averaging 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per
game. Hill was named the Little East Player of the Week once and was
named to the Weekly Honor Roll one time as well on the season. |

Junior guard Bobby Bailey (Fall River, MA) was
named Second Team All-Little East and to the All-Defensive Team for
the second consecutive season. Bailey has played in 25 games,
starting 21 of them. He is averaging 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8
assists and 2.0 steals per game. Bailey was named the Most
Outstanding Player of the 2008 Little East Conference Men’s
Basketball Tournament. |

Junior forward Kaseem Johnson (New Haven, CT)
was named Second Team All-Little East and to the All-Defensive Team.
Johnson has played in 28 games, starting 27 of them. He is averaging
9.6 points, a team-high 7.9 rebounds to go along with 1.0 assists
and 1.0 steals per game. Johnson was named to the LEC’s Weekly Honor
Roll once on the season. |

Freshman guard Antone Gray (Providence, RI)
was named to the Little East’s All-Rookie Team. Gray has played in
26 games, starting nine of them. He is averaging 6.2 points, 2.3
rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. |

Freshman guard Anthony Fortes (East Providence,
RI) was named to the Little East’s All-Rookie Team. Fortes has
played in 25 games, starting seven of them. He is averaging 7.7
points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Fortes was named the
Little East Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week once on the season. |

Head Coach Bob Walsh’s team captured the 2008
Little East Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship in a
55-52 win over top-seed and tourney host UMass Dartmouth on Mar. 1.
The 22-6 Anchormen will face Nazareth in first round action of the
2008 NCAA Div. III Men’s Basketball Tournament on Friday, Mar. 7 at
a four-team site hosted by Richard Stockton in Pomona, N.J. Tip-off
is scheduled for 6 p.m. |

Nazareth is 20-7 and the Empire 8 Conference
Tournament Champions. The winner of the RIC vs. Nazareth game will
face the winner of the Immaculata vs. Richard Stockton game on
Saturday, Mar. 8. |
