Rudd and Fernandes to Captain
Rhode Island College Men’s Indoor Track |

Providence, RI— Rhode
Island College junior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) and sophomore Chris
Fernandes (Cumberland, RI) will captain the men’s indoor track
team for the 2002-03 season. |
|

|
As a sophomore in
2001-02, Rudd placed ninth at the ECAC Championships with a
time of 4:02.44 in the 1,500 meters. He earned All-New England
honors as part of the distance medley team, which placed sixth with
a time of 10:44.84 at the N.E. Div. III Championships. Rudd was
named All-Alliance/Little East in both the 1,000 and 1,500 meters.
He placed first in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:34.43 and
second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:02.01. He established
new RIC records in the 800, 1,000, 1,500, 3,000 meters and the mile
during the winter campaign. |

He is a political science
major and a 1999 graduate of Pilgrim High School. |

|
As a freshman in 2001-02,
Fernandes established a new school record in the 55 meter hurdles,
placing second with a time of 9.12 at the Southern Maine
Invitational. Fernandes ran a season-best time of 56.33 in the 400
meters at the LEC/Alliance Championships. He placed fourth in the
300 meters at the Brown Invitational with a season-best time of
40.57. |

education major and 2001 graduate of Cumberland High School. |

Head Coach Kevin
Jackson’s team will open the 2002-03 campaign on December 7 at
the Brown Invitational. |
