Rhode Island College Men’s Indoor Track Update #1

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team opened up the 2002-03 indoor season at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 7. No team scores were kept at the meet.

Freshman Emmanuel Karngar (Providence, RI) placed second in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:35.12.

Junior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) placed fourth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:39.23.

Sophomore Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 44’06.25". He placed sixth in the shot with a distance of 39’10.50".

Freshman Richard Palazzo (Providence, RI) placed eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 32’09.00". He placed 11^th in the shot with a distance of 23’09.50".

Junior Joseph Padykula (Seekonk, MA) placed ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 29’08.25".

Junior Andrew Turenne (Plainfield, CT) placed tenth in the shot with a distance of 27’10.75".

Senior Brian Carney (Barrington, RI) placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 16’07.00". He placed 17^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.35.

Sophomore Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) placed eighth in the mile with a time of 4:25.90.

Freshman Michael Januario (Bristol, RI) placed 18^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.19.

Freshman Ken Sakor (Providence, RI) placed 13^th in the 500 meters with a time of 1:11.27.

Sophomore Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI) placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.75.

Senior Mike Daniels (Warwick, RI) placed fifth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:44.89.

Freshman John Meschisen (North Attleboro, MA) placed 22^nd in the 200 meters with a time of 26.65.

Sophomore Chris Fernandes (Cumberland, RI) placed fourth in the 300 meters with a time of 39.62.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 14.
