Rhode Island College Men’s Indoor Track Update #7

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Southern Maine, on Feb. 15. RIC placed fifth overall and fourth in the Little East with a score of 69. Westfield State finished first overall with a score of 159 and Keene State placed first in the Little East with a score of 96.

Freshman Emmanuel Karngar (Providence, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 400 and 800 meters. He placed first in the 400 meters with a school-record time of 50:04. He placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.08.

Junior Tim Rudd (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 600 and 1,000 meters. He placed third in the 600 meters with a time of 1:25.65. He placed fourth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:35.79.

Sophomore Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 1,500 meters, placing fourth with a time of 4:06.08. He placed 15th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:23.11.

Sophomore Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the weight throw, placing first with a distance of 49’04.50”. He placed seventh in the shot with a distance of 40’02.25”.

Junior Charles Kuti (Providence, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the long jump, placing sixth with a leap of 19’00.50”. He placed 15th in the preliminary round of the 55 meters with a time of 7.09. He placed 16th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.30.

Junior James Peluso (Johnston, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the pole vault, placing fourth with a leap of 12’00.75”.

Freshman Nick Palazzo (Providence, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the weight throw, placing fourth with a distance of 45’11.25”. He placed 25th in the shot with a distance of 28’01.00”.

Freshman Richard Palazzo (Providence, RI) placed 26th in the shot with a distance of 25’11.50”. He placed 16th in the weight throw with a distance of 37’01.75”.

Junior Joseph Padykula (Seekonk, MA) placed 19th in the shot with a distance of 33’01.25”.  He placed eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 41’07.75”.

Sophomore German Cardona (Pawtucket, RI) placed 17th in the preliminary round of the of the 55 meters with a time of 7.31. He placed 17th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.43.

Sophomore Josh Precourt (Woonsocket, RI) placed 12th in the 400 meters with a time of 54.51.

Freshman Michael Januario (Bristol, RI) placed 24th in the 200 meters with a time of 27.09.

Freshman Derek Freitas (North Kingstown) placed 14th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.77.

Sophomore Chris Fernandes (Cumberland, RI) placed 15th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.19. He placed 11th in the preliminary round of the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.15.

Senior Robert Wahnon (Framingham, MA) placed 14th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:40.93

Junior Mike Basilico (Johnston, RI) placed 27th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:54.60.

Sophomore Nicholas Heufelder (Falmouth, MA) placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 18’01.00”. He placed 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 35’10.00”.

In upcoming action, RIC will compete at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by MIT, on Saturday, Feb. 22.
