Rhode Island College Women’s Indoor Track Update #7

Providence, RI--Head Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the Little East Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Southern Maine, on Feb. 15. RIC placed fifth overall and third in the Little East with a score of 47. Southern Maine finished first, in both the Alliance and the LEC, with a score of 192.

Freshman Dana Skorupa (Cumberland, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 55 meters, placing second with a time of 7.73. Skorupa also placed ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.67.

Freshman Kim Cadden (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 1,000 meters, placing fifth with a time of 3:17.78.

Sophomore Kate McCalligett (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in both the 400 and 200 meters. She placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 61:32 and fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.18.

Sophomore Courtney Gardiner (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the triple jump, placing sixth with a leap of 31’00.00”. She placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 14’10.75”.

Sophomore Jessica Leonard (Warwick, RI) earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the weight throw, placing sixth with a distance of 39’06.50”. She placed ninth in the shot with a distance of 28’09.00”.

Junior Joanne Pora (Attleboro, MA) placed eighth in the shot with a distance of 29’06.50”. She placed 13th in the weight throw with a distance of 31’02.00”.

Freshman Bridget Hjerpe (Cranston, RI) placed 11th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:53.51.

Junior Michele Dunphy (Cranston, RI) placed ninth in the 600 meters with a time of 1:51.78.

Sophomore Rebecca Horton (Seekonk, MA) placed ninth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:27.32.

Freshman Tiffany Kirch (Hope, RI) placed 23rd in the 200 meters with a time of 35.67.

Freshman Dana Schmidt (North Scituate, RI) 22nd in the 200 meters with a time of 33.28.

Freshman Allison DeRoy (Smithfield, RI) placed 19th in the shot with a distance of 20’10.00”. She placed 17th in the weight throw with a distance of 23’08.75”.

Freshman Monique Gonsalves (Rumford, RI) placed 12th in the preliminary round of the 55 meter dash with a time of 8.85.

Freshman Temitayo Adenodi (Woonsocket, RI) placed 15th in the 200 meters with a time of 29.80. She placed ninth in the 55 meters with a time of 8.24.

Senior Marvel Heidy Mejia (West Palm Beach, FL) placed 34th in the 200 meters with a time of 35.95.
