Men’s Indoor Tracksters Qualify for New England Championships
|
|
|
|
Providence, RI—Five
members of the Rhode Island College men’s indoor track and field team
have qualified for the 2003 Div. III New England Championships, which
will be held at MIT on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22.

|
Freshman
Emmanuel Karngar (Providence, RI) has qualified in the 800 meters
and as part of the distance medley relay team. Karngar earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors in the 400 and 800 meters at the 2003
Alliance Championships on Feb. 15. He placed first in the 400 meters
with a school-record time of 50:04. He placed second in the 800 meters
with a time of 1:58.08. |

Junior Tim
Rudd (Warwick, RI) has qualified in the 1,000 meters and as part
of the distance medley relay team. Rudd earned All-Alliance/Little
East honors in the 600 and 1,000 meters at the 2003 Alliance
Championships on Feb. 15. He placed third in the 600 meters with a
time of 1:25.65. He placed fourth in the 1,000 meters with a time of
2:35.79. |

Sophomores
Joe Parenteau (Smithfield, RI) and Josh Precourt (Woonsocket,
RI) have also qualified as part of the distance medley relay team. |

Sophomore
Marc Piette (Woonsocket, RI) has qualified in the weight throw.
Piette earned All-Alliance/Little East honors in the weight throw,
placing first with a distance of 49’04.50” at the 2003 Alliance
Championships on Feb. 15. |
