Koreans in Rhode Island is a photography exhibition conceived and executed by Jeonghee Park during her sabbatical year (2009–2011) as a visiting professor at the University of Rhode Island. Shot within two years, this digitally formatted series is a photographic expression of Korean people who live and work in Rhode Island. Park previously published a similar project in 1997, Koreans in Germany, which consisted of black-and-white large-format photographs.
Park has taught at Sunchon National University in Korea since 1998. She has published several books and exhibited her work many times in Korea. She received an M.F.A. in photography from Essen University in Germany. Her main area of research is fi ne arts education, specifi cally in developing cultural content.
The exhibition is curated by RIC art professor Heemong Kim.
