The radiologic technology program at Rhode Island College is a joint program in conjunction with Rhode Island Hospital’s School of Diagonostic Imaging. It is a comprehensive four-year program consisting of two years of General Education and cognate courses at Rhode Island College followed by two years of School of Diagnostic Imaging clinical education courses.

Clinical education is held at Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, University of Orthopedics, and Rhode Island Medical Imaging. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. B.S. in Radiologic Technology

Admission Requirements

The admission process consists of two phases. Initially students apply to Rhode Island College with Radiologic Technology as their intended major. After completion of the admission requirements below plus completion of RADT 201, which includes the Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test (HOBET), students will apply to the clinical portion of the program. It is expected that this program will be very competitive. An overall grade point average of 2.7 as well as the other requirements listed below are the minimum required for application and do not guarantee admission to the program.

  1. Completion of the Enrollment Form signed by the program director.
  2. Completion of all cognate courses (BIOL 108, 231, 335; COMM 258; HED 115, MATH 181, NURS 155, and PHYS 110) with a minimum grade of C in each course.
  3. Completion of the College Mathematics and Writing Requirements.
  4. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.70.
  5. An interview with the director of the Rhode Island Hospital School of Diagnostic Imaging.
