Building 7 Renovation
The mission of the new 11,350 SF Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities is to support community membership of individuals with disabilities in school, work, and society. An existing building located on the Rhode Island College Campus, which was formerly part of the Rhode Island State Home and School and has since been unoccupied, will be renovated to include a resource library, training center and offi ces. The library will contain computer programs, literature and various types of equipment that will be available for individuals to test. Seminars will be conducted in the Center for various teachers and social workers to enhance teaching capabilities. An addition to the existing building will create a new entry, with a stair and elevator to access both fl oors. The $3.3 million project, expected to be completed in March 2009, also includes an expanded parking area.
