The Credential File is a valuable service offered by the Career Development Center of Rhode Island College. Over the years, it has proven to be a worthwhile resource for professional job seekers.
The purpose of the Credential File service is to assist new professionals and alumni in the job search process. The Credential File contains references, transcripts, and other pertinent information submitted by the file owner that is often requested by potential employers.
Based on the preference of the individual, the contents of the references and other documents contained in the Credential File may be confidential or non-confidential to the file owner. This choice is solely at the discretion of the job seeker.
When needed, the file owner can request that copies of the documents be sent to employers as part of the application process. There is a "nominal fee" for each file mailed to employers. Other information related to Credential File policies is available upon request.
Further details, including how to establish a Credential File, may be obtained in the Career Development Center.
