Multiple Acceptances

How do I choose among multiple acceptances?

Congratulations! All your hard work has paid off and you're now in the position of deciding where you will attend graduate school. This is a good time to revisit the original criteria you established when you initially identified programs. Do these criteria remain important to you today? If not, what has changed?

Are you no longer willing to relocate? Have you solidified your career plans in a way that some programs are more likely to help you achieve your professional goals than others? Did some programs also offer financial assistance while others did not?

This is a good time to visit schools where you've been accepted if you've not done so previously to get a better feel for the campus, the faculty, your peers ... It is also a good time to talk with experts. Start with RIC faculty. They will be familiar with programs within their disciplines. They are likely to have colleagues teaching in the programs you are considering.

We also invite you to meet with a career counselor to discuss your options now that your acceptances have come in.
