The Comprehensive Examination is offered twice a year - usually a Saturday in October and March. Successful completion of the exam is required of all students in a Master's level graduate program. Students have two chances of passing the examination which is graded Pass/Fail.

Students who have completed Clinical Practicum I and who have accumulated at least 27 credits toward their degree are eligible to take the examination.

The Department will inform students each fall and spring semester of the exact examination date and will invite students to an information meeting usually several weeks prior to the upcoming exam. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor to discuss any other questions about the Comprehensive Examination.

School Psychology Students:

Students completing the school psychology program must take and achieve a passing score on the National School Psychology Examination (ETS Praxis II: Test #10400) during their final year. The test focuses on both content and process issues that are relevant to the school setting.

The main content areas of the test include assessment (25%), prevention and intervention (25%), psychological foundations (20%), educational foundations (14%), and ethical and legal issues (18%). The passing score accepted by the department is 500 (the mean score for the exam).
