“I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and that good teachers graduated from RIC. I wanted to be a part of that,” Guerrouxo said.
Guerrouxo has been heavily involved in the Office of Residential Life and Housing, serving as RA during her sophomore year and as senior RA at RIC’s Penfield Hall for the past two years.
“Becoming involved in residential life opened up a wealth of opportunities for me on my career path, with my on-campus organizations, and in my personal life. Working as an RA has provided me with the opportunity to grow my leadership skills and network with some of the most amazing people,” she said.
As a senior, Guerrouxo was elected president of the Resident Student Association and served on the Co-Curricular Transcript Committee. She also became a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary.
Guerrouxo is captain of the school’s Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team, on which she has played for the past three seasons.
Last year Guerrouxo won the Office of Student Activities’ Campus Spirit Award.
This coming school year Guerrouxo will begin her teaching career at Achievement First Providence Mayoral Academy, a K-4 charter school.
