​Safe Zone Training

​Safe Zone training at RIC is a three-hour workshop open to RI College undergraduates, graduate students, administrators, staff and faculty. The workshop is designed to prepare participants to understand the needs of LGBTQ+ students and to develop ally skills to address the needs of the population on campus. The curriculum addresses a wide range of information, including:

  • Identity terms associated with the LGBTQ+ community
  • Issues that LGBTQ+ students often deal with during the coming out process
  • Concerns that LGBTQ+ students face both in and out of the classroom
  • Ways that allies can create inclusive environments
  • The on- and off-campus resources available to studen​ts

Three workshops will be offered this semester:​​

  • Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (Unity Center Conference Room)
  • Thursday, April 5th, 2018 from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. (Gaige 200)
  • Thursday, April 19th, 2018 from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. (Gaige 200)
