Academic Develop Program Pilot

The International Baseball Academy is an organization whose goal is to shape young men with a passion for baseball into complete student-athletes that will succeed on the field, in the classroom and in life.  Baseball as the “hook” to spark the interest of young men ages 13-18 from the inner city neighborhood of South Providence.  Baseball is not the focus of the Academy, the focus is on youth development; academically, athletically and emotionally.

The baseball program consists of close to 75 young men from the Providence metro area; 8 of whom have been enrolled in their Academic Development program that strives to augment the classroom experience with intense study skills development and English/Composition and Mathematics tutoring.  In order to support the Academic Development program, they are reaching out to institutions of higher education to provide academic tutoring and mentoring for the young student-athletes.
