Volunteer Expo 2009

 

Rhode Island College is holding its annual Volunteer Expo on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.   Fifty community organizations will convene on the campus quad to interface with students, faculty, and staff and share in meaningful dialogue regarding the diverse needs of our community and how we can effectively partner to address those needs.

The Expo is a recruitment and networking opportunity aimed at strengthening Rhode Island College’s links with the community, fostering new community partnerships, and increasing student volunteerism.

Parking

Expo attendees should park in Lots H, I, (viewed on the printable map). Campus parking can be a challenge. Be sure to allow enough time to locate a parking space. It is recommended that you transport materials from your vehicle to the Quad or Union using a cart or wheeled device as you may have to park a distance from campus mall area. If you are traveling with a partner consider dropping one person off in front of the Student Union using Lot k and following the walkway to the Quad.

  • Registration is September 3rd to September 24th

  • By registering, your name will be entered to win RIC apparel and tickets to Student Activities' trips. You will also receive an advanced listing of attending organizations and a reminder email about the event.

For Organizations

The Volunteer Expo is just one of the ways for community organizations and agencies to connect with Rhode Island College students. Organizations seeking Rhode Island College student volunteers are also encouraged to use Destinations our online job posting system that can be used to circulate volunteer opportunities. Community organizations can further access student assistance through the federal work study program by serving as an off campus employers at a 25% cost share. Registration

Registration is free and includes a table (30 x 72) and two chairs. Space is limited. To register, download and complete the registration form. Submit via email to Liz Garofalo mgarofalo@ric.edu by September 4, 2009.
