Dedicated to the Central Falls Community and Physical Education

Maureen Azar ’85 worked as the assistant recreation director in Central Falls for many years. In addition, she was a long time employee of Macy's Department Store. Maureen began her teaching career in 1985 as an elementary physical education teacher in her hometown of Central Falls. With a passion for her community and the children, she earned her administration degree and became a successful principal at Feinstein Elementary School in 2001. Shortly thereafter, she was appointed principal at Ella Risk Elementary School in 2008. It is there she dedicated her life to the community, families, students, and staff of the Central Falls School District.  

Funding for Physical Education Majors

The Maureen Azar Memorial Scholarship Fund will award future Rhode Island College junior and senior health and physical education majors who are in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need and possess a commitment to family, education and community.

She was a loving, caring, and generous person to her family and friends and in return was loved by all. She was a world traveler who loved to document her travels through photography. Maureen enjoyed sharing her experiences with her friends and family. She was an avid animal rights supporter and was a fitness enthusiast.
