About Disability Services

Rhode Island College is committed to integrating students with disabilities into the campus community. Persons with documented disabilities are assured reasonable access to the College's programs, opportunities, and activities. As the initial contact point for students, the Disability Services Office endeavors to make students aware of the many opportunities and resources available to them.

Opportunities include support services, referrals, and assistive technology. The office not only serves as an advocate for students with disabilities, but also encourages students toward self-advocacy, independence, and productivity.

The Office serves students with all types of disabilities: mobility, hearing, vision, motor, psychological, learning (including attention disorders), speech, chronic disease, and other conditions. Disabilities may be obvious or hidden, permanent, recurring or temporary.

Formal documentation/evaluation is required for all students. Students with disabilities currently enrolled in classes at Rhode Island College should self-identify and register with the Student Life Office in order to receive reasonable accommodations.
