| ENGL 205 | Backgrounds in British Literature to 1800 | 4 |
| ENGL 206 | Backgrounds in British Literature 1800 to Present | 4 |

| ENGL 460 | Seminar in Major Authors and Themes | 4 |
| SIX ADDITIONAL COURSES at the 300- or 400-level, as follows: one pre-1800, one 1801-1900; one post-1900, and three others from any period/genre (for Creative Writing concentrators, these three must be Creative Writing courses).
