FAQ

Is it necessary to register for the symposium?
Yes. Even if you want to attend only one or two lectures and not to be involved with the entire symposium, we still encourage you to register. The registration page makes it easy - it's free, and it only takes a minute. Having everyone register goes a long way towards ensuring that the symposium runs smoothly. Specifically, if you register by Monday, February 25, we can make sure that we have enough food!

What is the submission deadline?
If you'd like to present a poster or a talk you must submit by Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 for full consideration.

How do I submit to CURS?
If you are interested in giving a talk or presenting a poster, please submit your title and abstract through the registration page.

When will I find out if my presentation has been accepted?
We will send you an email indicating whether or not your presentation has been accepted by February 15, 2013.

What is the expected dress code for presenters?
There is no required attire, but we expect that most presenters will come dressed business casual.

What meals are you providing?
There will be a coffee break in the morning and a light lunch.

How much math/computer science do I need to know in order to understand the presentations?
A familiarity with data structures will be helpful.

I want to present a talk. How much time do I have to do so and who will be my audience?
Presentations should not exceed 20 minutes, unless you request additional time before the symposium and we grant that request. Your primary audience will be composed of your fellow computer science undergraduates. Remember that they come from a diverse set of backgrounds and plan your presentation accordingly.
