Rhode Island Science Olympiad 2018



The Science Olympiad is a national program that was created to increase interest in science. It has members in all 50 states with more than 12,000 actively participating K-12 schools. The Science Olympiad aims to teach science by involving students in active, hands-on activities that emphasize problem solving and the scientific process. In state and national competitions, winners of individual events win athletic-style medals, with winning teams earning trophies. At the national level, there are substantial scholarships awarded to top winners.

The 2018 Rhode Island Science Olympiad

will be held on

Saturday, April 21, 2018

at Rhode Island College.




To register a team for the 2018 Rhode Island Science Olympiad, first complete the online registration using the link above.  You will then be sent a copy of the registration form.  Please proofread this form, obtain the principal’s signature, and complete your registration by submitting the signed form by mail, email (pdf), or fax.  Deadline for registration and payment is December 1, 2017. Please register as soon as possible, even if payment will not be made until closer to December 1.


For 2018, Online Rules Manuals are available for free from the National Science Olympiad Store, Printed copies are available for purchase; they are no longer distributed through the state organization.

New this Year – Brown Science Olympiad Invitational Tournament


Brown University Science Olympiad would like to invite your school to compete at Brown University's 2018 Science Olympiad Invitational Tournament. The Invitational is being run and supervised by Science Olympiad alumni.


The Invitational takes place on Brown University's campus located in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday, February 3, 2018. 


We will be hosting 30 Division C teams and testing all 2017-2018 Division C events. Registration is limited to one team per school. The cost of registration is $100 per team. Your school is welcome to register starting September 12, 2017 by following the link on our website


We look forward to hosting our first annual Invitational Tournament and cannot wait to see your students show off their science and technology knowledge.
