The Arctic in Stereoview

The Arctic was frequently depicted in stereoviews, and Arctic expeditions from the 1850's onwards were well-represented. Lieutenant Cheyne, himself an Arctic veteran, made a set of stereo views of the Franklin relics brought back by M'Clintock in 1859, and recieved Lady Franklin's blessing. The views shown below are from later eras, but are no less fascinating; the Arctic and Antarctic Regions continued as popular subjects of stereo views until the fading of the medium.
