A BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) is a required background check.
FSEHD requires that all undergraduate and graduate students, who work with children and youth in any setting, must obtain a new BCI each year.
CastleBranch (CB) serves as the warehouse for FSEHD student BCI information and provides our programs a means of knowing which candidates successfully completed the BCI process.
Instructions for BCI applications will be shared with students enrolled in courses that include field experiences: observations, practicum, student teaching, internships.
To create your CB account, you begin by placing an order. Once you place your BCI order you will receive step by step instructions from CB on how to obtain your BCI at the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office.
The final step will be for you to upload your BCI back into CB where you will have 24/7 access to the BCI (as you may need more than one copy, depending on the number of clinical experiences you have in any given semester).
