Rhode Island Teacher Education Program
Admission Criteria
- Fulfillment of all additional requirements which a department may have for
admission to a particular teacher preparation program / concentration. Students
should contact the appropriate department for information about these requirements
and answers to questions they may have.
- Submission of transcript(s) from all undergraduate colleges/universities
attended evidencing:
- Completion of a degree program in the content to be taught;
- Attainment of a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 in all college
level courses culminating in a degree (BS/BA).
- Submission of two (2) confidential Disposition Reference forms in sealed
envelopes. One Disposition Reference form must be completed by a faculty member
or a person familiar with your work with children/youth. One Disposition Reference
form must be completed by a work supervisor.
- Completion of a Career Commitment Essay (CCE). Information about this essay
and a completed/scored evaluation rubric are included in the Admission Portfolio.
