Core Assumptions
This Ph.D. Program attracts those professionals who share the core beliefs
that shape the Program's mission:
- Effective educational reforms might best be accomplished by the enhancement
of existing institutions.
- The leaders of these reforms should be experienced and reflective
professionals who are guided by the history of American education, but not
confined by it.
- Past and present educational practices must be carefully evaluated, in order
to refine some and replace others.
- Blueprints for educational improvement and reform should be shaped by
previous research on educational theory and practice. All new programs should be
systematically evaluated.
