The teacher education and human service programs at Rhode Island College provide graduates with the knowledge, skill, and experience to work successfully in a variety of school settings - urban, rural, and suburban. All students in teacher education programs are required to participate in community service experiences and demonstrate competence with technology. The teacher education programs at Rhode Island College consist of three elements: general education; specialty studies in an academic major, content major, or special education teaching concentration; and professional preparation studies including field-based experiences.
