Soren Sorensen is currently producing and directing a documentary film on the life and music of Cuban-born jazz pianist Omar Sosa. Additionally, Sorensen is currently nearing completion on My Father’s Vietnam
, a documentary about friendships made and unmade by the Vietnam War. Sorensen’s first animated short, Is Your Hair Made of Donuts?
, was included in the 2014 Providence Children's Film Festival. In addition to directing, producing, and editing, Sorensen is a composer of music for film and television. His work has appeared on Showtime, the Sundance Channel, the History Channel, the Travel Channel, CNN International, Logo, and College Sports TV. In 2013, he co-created, produced, directed, and edited a series of documentaries for Rhode Island PBS titled Behind the Ribbon
, featuring stories of breast cancer patients and survivors. Sorensen also produced the soundtrack for fellow Film Studies adjunct faculty member Derek Dubois’s short film Lucid
, which was included in the 2013 Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival.
