ResearchDerek Dubois is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. His narrative short films Fallout (2012), Lucid (2013), and Sinners (2014) and his documentary shorts Hot for Teacher (2014) and City on the Move (2014) have been named official selections of many festivals including the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Boston International Film Festival, Massachusetts Independent Film Festival, Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival, Online New England Film Festival, Louisville Fright Night Film Festival, The Pawtucket Film Festival, the SoCal Film Festival, and Shockerfest.Derek is the recipient of several awards including "Best Rhode Island Film" (Lucid, 2013 Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival), "Jury Award for Best Suspense/Action Film" (Fallout, 2013 Online New England Film Festival), "New England Discovery Award" (Fallout, 2012 Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival), "Best Action Film" and "Best CGI" (Fallout, 2012 Louisville Fright Night). His feature length screenplay Miss Diagnosis placed as a semi-finalist in the Nashville Film Festival and won the "First Prize Award" in the Vortex Horror/Sci-Fi category in the 2016 Rhode Island International Film Festival.In addition to filmmaking, Derek is quite passionate about writing academically about film. His work, primarily based around aspects of narrative and film style, has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.
