Amos House provides direct assistance to people in need by offering
resources that help them achieve greater stability and self-reliance
in their lives.
Elizabeth Buffum Chace House provides services for individuals and
families affected by domestic abuse, through safe shelter, individual
and group counseling, 24 hour crisis hotline, court advocacy,
in-school programming and professional training and education.
Domestic Abuse Advocacy Project (DAAP) places volunteers in a women's shelter and in the Providence district court as advocates for survivors of abuse. Shelter volunteers staff the shelter crisis line. Court volunteers work as advocates for women whose abusers are in the court system.
Dorcas Place assists low-income adults in realizing their full
potential through literacy, employment, advocacy, and community
involvement. Dorcas Place Parent Literacy Center helps parents,
primarily single parents, develop the basic literacy skills necessary
to live more self-directed lives. Teachers, instructors, college
interns, and trained volunteers provide individual tutoring and
Genesis Center is a multi-service organization offering a full
range of services to immigrants and refugees from twenty-six
countries. It assists South East Asian, Latino, and Eastern European
refugee and immigrant adult learners.
International Institute of Rhode Island is an independent
non-profit, serving immigrants and refugees, one family at a time,
since 1921. It serves as a first-stop, full-service immigration
referral center providing educational, legal, and social services to
immigrants and refugees throughout Rhode Island and southeastern New
Rhode Island Department of Health, Office of Women's Health, works
to improve the health status of Rhode Island women and girls by
advocating for resources and services which address women's health
issues across the lifespan.
RI Jobs with Justice is a coalition of labor, community, faith-based, and student groups taking concrete action to build power for poor and working class people. The organization works to re-establish justice in the workplace, while promoting social, racial, and economic justice. Jobs with Justice caters internships to the interests of students and works to identify skills that students want to develop like public speaking, grassroots communication and social media, meeting facilitation, fundraising, cyber activism, community service and more.
Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island affords high quality and
confidential family planning services, as well as reproductive health
care, counseling and education to women and men of all ages.
Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence assists and
supports Rhode Island's shelters for battered women in statewide

Day One, the Sexual Assault and Trauma Resource Center of Rhode Island deals with issues of sexual assault as a community concern. Its mission is to address the issues of sexual assault and trauma through a comprehensive range of services, including intervention, treatment, education and prevention.
Sojourner House is dedicated to furnishing support and advocacy to victims
of domestic abuse.
The Women's Center of Rhode Island provides safety and support
to women and their children who are experiencing interpersonal abuse or homelessness
due to personal crisis. It provides a comprehensive range of services that include
residential, transitional and community based programs that provide opportunities
for personal transformation.
WE LEARN promotes women's literacy as a tool for personal growth
and social change through networking, education, action, and resource
development. WE LEARN has received a $10,000 grant for 2006-2007 from
the Women's Fund of Rhode Island to support Women Leading Through
Reading Discussion Circles in the Providence area.
Youth Pride offers support, advocacy and education for youth and
young adults impacted by gender identity and sexual orientation.
