The Social Construction of Teenagers in Young Adult Literature
SED 580 is a "hybrid" course, meaning that some course meetings will take place online and others will be in person. While stateside, course meetings will be mostly online, and the bulk of our work together will take place during the week of July 11-18 in St. Andres, New Brunswick, Canada. This international context will offer us the opportunity to step outside of our familiar worlds and develop a literary community that hopefully will sustain itself once we come back to the states.
We will be reading classic and contemporary texts about young audlts from a range of backgrounds and contexts, including Canada. (3 graduate credits)
