The London Course consists of two classes for each of which students receive three college credits. Political Science 444 is given during Summer Session I. Political Science 445 involves a 22-23 day study abroad program (departing in the first week of July) in London, including 4 days in Paris and 2 days in Budapest. The course is open to all undergraduates, and they do not need to be Political Science majors. Substantial financial aid is available that could cover almost the entire trip.
For more information and applications, contact Dean Richard Weiner in the Arts and Sciences Office: 456-8601 or rweiner@ric.edu.
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is an honor organization that focuses on scholarship, leadership, and service. Students with GPA's of 3.4 or higher and rank in the top 20% of their class are automatically invited to join during the freshman/sophomore years. NSCS has chapters at 229 colleges and universities nationwide.
My name is Sunny Intwala and I am currently the RIC NSCS chapter president/founder. I started the RIC NSCS Chapter during my sophomore year.
There are numerous opportunities beyond academics through this organization including: merit/graduate scholarships, semester at sea scholarships, study abroad scholarships, internships, discounts at barnes and nobles, free trips to leadership conferences, ect. I strongly urge you to visit the NSCS website at www.nscs.org for more information.
During these past two years we have completed many community service activities including the women and children drive, cooking at soup kitchens for the homeless, volunteering at Hasbro Children's hospital, raising money for the children fund for kids with cancer, ect. We are a growing organization and as a member you can bring up ideas and activities that you would like to do within the community and NSCS members will gladly help out!
Of interest for education majors at RIC, we have a Planning for College
Success(PCSF) program where students go to local high schools and middle schools and speak with students about college and your experience.
There are so many benefits you can get from this organization. The first year I joined I received a $1,000 merit scholarship given out to 50 new members every year. I also was able to set the foundation for many volunteering and community service activities for years to come. Our graduating members have been successful at RIC and are going on to graduate/medical school at Brown University, University of Connecticut, and the Air Force Academy. As RIC Honor students I would strongly urge you to join and actively participate. If you have any further questions please feel free to email:
