About The Program

The Hopkins Hill Math Mentors Program pairs Rhode Island College teacher candidates with a fourth or fifth grade student enrolled in the school's Math Academy. During the Academy mentors and mentees engage in math games designed to strengthen skills and build confidence. The Academy is coordinated by Hopkins Hill teachers and Rhode Island College graduates, Kim O'Connell and Ray Raboin. Both Kim and Ray make the Academy a warm, welcoming, and fun place for mentees and mentors to "hang out" and work on math. In addition to the Academy, mentors and mentees connect through emails, lunch visits to the school, and campus visits.
