Plan changes made now will be effective July 1, 2012 and any adjusted payroll co-share deductions will be reflected in the July 20, 2012 paycheck.
What kinds of changes can employees make during the Open Enrollment? Employees may change medical/dental/vision coverage from Individual to Family or vice versa or elect to participate in or rescind the Waiver of Health Coverage; add an eligible spouse or dependent to medical/dental/vision coverage; enrollment or disenrollment in the life insurance plan, group legal plan, AFLAC Short-term Disability or Cancer Protection plans; enrollment in the Medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Dependent Care Assistance plan.
Changes made during the Open Enrollment may not usually be made at any other time of the year unless an employee experiences a "change in family status" meaning birth or adoption of a child, marriage, divorce, death or loss of coverage through a spouse or parent. In addition, any benefits that are paid with pre-tax dollars may not be changed during the plan year unless an employee experiences a "change in family status."

United Educators has developed and partnered with The RI Board of Governors for Higher Education to make available to all employees an on-line illegal harassment prevention exercise. The key goal is to educate all employees regarding acceptable workplace behavior and to continue to foster an environment free from illegal harassment consistent with the College's Illegal Harassment Policy. In addition, the recent headlines regarding claims of illegal harassment at other college campuses further strengthen the case for providing illegal harassment education to all employees.
We strongly urge all full-time and part-time employees to complete the on-line illegal harassment prevention exercise at your earliest convenience. The exercise may be completed at work or from home.
The role of the Office of Human Resources is to attract, retain, and motivate the employees of Rhode Island College and to promote the overall interests and strategic goals of the college community.
