Opportunity for Giving
Mindful of the fiscal challenges faced by the college, President Carriuolo has requested that no college funds be used for any of the inaugural activities, not even outside funds raised previously through the RIC Foundation or Alumni Association. Instead, a special inaugural fundraising committee was established to solicit donations that will not compete with other ongoing college fundraising activities.
Any donated funds not expended for the inauguration will be used to support one of the new president’s first signature initiatives: The President's Illuminated Walkway which will consist of a well-lighted, pedestrian-friendly route lined with emergency call phones and security cameras. The focus of the initial phase of the project is a cross-campus route that connects RIC’s residence halls on the western side of the campus to the East Campus, home to the Recreation Center and the School of Social Work. This project reflects one of President Carriuolo’s three presidential themes by promoting campus safety for members of the college community and for the neighbors of the college.
