- The Mathematics Assessment Examination (MAE) will consist of twenty-five multiple choice questions.
- Calculator use is not permitted while taking the MAE.
- The student will have forty-five minutes to complete the MAE.
- The practice test that follows consists of ten questions, only forty percent as many as the MAE. Thus, the student ought to be able to complete this practice test within eighteen minutes, which is forty percent of the time permitted for the MAE.
Options After Having Taken The Mathematics Assessment ExaminationIf you do not achieve a satisfactory score (16 or better) on the Mathematics Assessment Examination you have two choices.
Choice one: If your score was very low and/or your major requires mathematics courses you may wish to take Mathematics 010 to bring your mathematics skills up to par and also fulfill the requirement.
Choice two: Come to the Mathematics Learning Center with your test results to receive tutoring before taking the test a second time.
If you do not achieve a satisfactory score on the test on the second opportunity, then the only way to fulfill the requirement is passing Mathematics 010.
