MIRIC String Summer Camp
July 7-July 12
​Tuition: $450 (If you apply after April 30, $500)

Led by RIC music faculty Alexey Shabalin, students will have the opportunity to work with professional artists to improve their skills as performers. The camp also gives them the unique opportunity to work with world-renowned performers associated with the Newport Music Festival through a series of masterclasses. In past years the guest artists of MIRIC where Sergey Antonov-cello and Irina Muresanu-violin. The highlight of the camp is a day trip to Newport by ferry from Providence. MIRIC participants will have the opportunity of hearing world-class artists perform in a live concert at the Newport Music Festival.

MIRIC Schedule

07/07 trip to Newport from 11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
07/08 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
07/09 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
07/10 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
07/11 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
07/12 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and concert at RIC at 5:30 p.m.

All the participants are playing in chamber orchestra in the morning (10:00-12:30) and chamber music in the afternoon (1:30-5:00).

The Camp participants are not required to submit audition materials. However, to receive the best experience of the program, the students are expected to be able to: 1) Demonstrate proficiency of their string instruments (Play major and minor scales (2-3 octaves) and standard repertoire etudes). 2) Performing the repertoire equivalent to Suzuki method level 6-10. 

3) Has had past experience playing in an ensemble.

MIRIC 2019 Percussion Summer Camp

July 15 - July 18
Tuition: $450

A fun and intensive week led by RIC faculty members Michael DeQuattro, and Charles Kalajian. Participants will study performance and essential percussion technique through ensemble playing and repertoire.

Daily sessions will run from 10-2:30, with a break for lunch at the Donovan Dining Center from 12 - 1.

The Camp participants are not required to submit audition materials. However, to receive the best experience of the program, the students are expected to be able to demonstrate proficiency in percussion and should have experience playing in an ensemble.

Lunch will be provided at the Donovan Student Center (3 min walk from Nazarian C​enter on the RI College campus - accompanied by faculty members or student-assistant).

MIRIC Trumpet Workshop

July 15 - July 18
Tuition: $450

RIC Professor of Trumpet, Joseph Foley, will again be hosting a 4 day trumpet workshop at Rhode Island College. Classes will focus on the fundamentals of playing, as well as, repertoire preparation.

Adults, as well as, students are encouraged to apply.

Daily sessions will run from 10-2:30, with a break for lunch at the Donovan Dining Center from 12 - 1​.
