MIRIC 2019 String Summer Camp

July 7 - July 12
Tuition: $450 (If you apply after April 30, $50​0)

The MIRIC string as a daily music camp designed for students of high school and college. During that week all students will have the opportunity to work with professional artists to improve their skills as performers. The camp also gives them the unique opportunity to work with world-renowned performers associated with the Newport Music Festival through a series of masterclasses. For the past three years, we had a guest appearance of cellist Sergei Antonov (2016-2018) and Irina Muresanu(2018), who is a world-famous musicians, winners of prestigious international competition and many-years participant of The Newport Music festival. The highlight of the camp is a round trip to Newport from Providence by ferry. All camp participants will have the opportunity of hearing world-class artists perform in a live concert at the Newport Music Festival.

In daily activity MIRIC students will be playing in string orchestra from 10 a.m. -12:30 p.m. and after lunch rehearse chamber music with coaches from 1:30-4 p.m. From 4-5 p.m. all participants will be gathering together for an assembly (various music activities).

MIRIC 2019 Percussion Summer Camp

July 15 - July 18
Tuition: $450

A fun and intensive week led by RIC faculty members Michael DeQuattro, and Charles Kalajian. Participants will study performance and essential percussion technique through ensemble playing and repertoire.

Daily sessions will run from 10-2:30, with a break for lunch at the Donovan Dining Center from 12 - 1.

The Camp participants are not required to submit audition materials. However, to receive the best experience of the program, the students are expected to be able to demonstrate proficiency in percussion and should have experience playing in an ensemble.

Lunch will be provided at the Donovan Student Center (3 min walk from Nazarian Center on the RI College campus - accompanied by faculty members or student-assistant).

MIRIC Trumpet Workshop

July 15 - July 18
Tuition: $450

RIC Professor of Trumpet, Joseph Foley, will again be hosting a 4 day trumpet workshop at Rhode Island College. Classes will focus on the fundamentals of playing, as well as, repertoire preparation.

Adults, as well as, students are encouraged to apply.

Daily sessions will run from 10-2:30, with a break for lunch at the Donovan Dining Center from 12 - 1​.
