JUMP RHYTHM JAZZ PROJECT is an Emmy award-winning dance company of rhythm-driven performers and teachers. Founded by Billy Siegenfeld in New York City in 1990, Jump Rhythm celebrates the timeless core of jazz performance - dancing and singing in high-energy bursts of rhythm to the beat-driven sounds of swinging jazz, blues-and-funk-based rock, and world music. JUMP RHYTHM performs its rich blend of percussive musicality and exuberant, story-based dance theatre in annual festivals in Chicago and on tour nationally and internationally. Members of The Rhode Island College Dance Company will perform in this concert. “Billy Siegenfeld is on to something with the Jump Rhythm Jazz style, a matter of taut, precise, fast and far-moving jazz dancing…The dancers are like hard little projectiles hurtling through space…each step and gesture are clear, and soon the hurtling becomes a kind of ground-skimming flight that captures the exuberant physicality of good dancers when moments of extreme control and abandon are seamlessly combined.” Jennifer Dunning, THE NEW YORK TIMES

This showcase provides advanced students with an ideal venue for their work and is sure to provide an evening of quality entertainment for the audience.
