Mary Ellen Kregler
Dr. Mary Ellen Kregler enjoys an active career as an educator and performer. She is currently Professor of Flute at Rhode Island College where her responsibilities include the instruction of Sight Singing, Ear Training, Theory, and Chamber Music studies. She earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as well as both her Masters of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Miami.
Previous orchestral engagements have included performances with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, the Florida Grand Opera Orchestra, the Miami Chamber Orchestra, the North Miami Beach Symphony, the Winston-Salem Symphony, the Bahamian National Orchestra, and the Providence Festival Ballet Orchestra, among others.
Kregler maintains a busy and varied performance career. She is well known for her seasoned piccolo playing, performing as piccoloist for the Rhode Island Philharmonic summer concert series and frequently during their regular season. Mary Ellen is also principal flutist for the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra and second flutist with the Westerly Pops Orchestra. Other engagements include performances at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos with acts such as Il Divo, The Celtic Woman, and Celtic Thunder. Dr. Kregler is also an active soloist, recitalist, and clinician.
Dr. Kregler has been invited to perform at several National Flute Association Conventions. She was a soloist at the 2012 convention in Las Vegas, performed as a winner of the 2011 NFA Professional Flute Choir Competition in Charlotte, NC, and performed with the Metropolitan and Florida Flute Orchestras in 2009 in New York City. In addition, she has served as an adjudicator for the prestigious James Pappoutsakis Flute Competition, held annually in Boston.
Mary Ellen lives in Lincoln, RI with her husband, pianist/composer Michael Kregler, and their three sons: James, twelve, and Anthony and Joseph, fraternal twins who are four years old.
