Merchants of Bollywood arrives on RIC stage, Oct. 26
The Performing Arts Series at RIC will present “The Merchants of Bollywood” – the first authentic Indian music and dance spectacular – in a single performance on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium in Roberts Hall.
This international hit – seen by more than two million people – made its North American premiere this month in Chicago after becoming a huge success in Asia and Europe.
Written and directed by Toby Gough, “Merchants” is a classic tale that depicts the clash between generations when a daughter breaks free of family tradition to create her own voice.
A cast of dozens, colorful costumes and a blend of folk, classical, modern, Western and Indian dance styles light up the stage and capture the magic of Bollywood.
The London Times describes “Merchants” as a “huge blast of fun,” while the London Metro wrote that it has “dazzle, shimmer and sparkle.”
Tickets for Merchants of Bollywood are $35, with discounts for seniors, RIC faculty/staff/students/alumni, and children. For your convenience, tickets can be purchased as follows: in advance via Visa or MasterCard by calling (401) 456-8144 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays; online at www.ric.edu/pfa; or in person at the Roberts Hall Box Office, which will open for sales two hours prior to performance start time.
