Author Jen Bryant to speak at RIC, Oct. 28

Novelist Jen Bryant will celebrate the launch of her latest novel, "The Fortune of Carmen Navarro," with an appearance on Thursday, Oct. 28, in the Fortes Room on the 4th floor of Adams Library.

The book, based on the story of the opera "Carmen,” will be available for her to sign, though it will not be in bookstores for another two weeks.

Bryant is a skillful storyteller and poet who frequently combines her poetic gifts with fiction to write historical novels in blank verse for young people. Her books include "The Trial," "Pieces of Georgia," "Ringside: 1925," and "Kaleidoscope Eyes."

There will be a special raffle of her books at the event. CEUs are available.

Her appearance is sponsored by RIC's Alliance for the Study and Teaching of Adolescent Literature (ASTAL) and the Friends of Adams Library.

Admission is $5.
