RIC student wins Connecticut pageant


RIC freshman Samantha Sojka of Granby, Conn., was rewarded for all the preparation she put into the Miss Connecticut Teen USA 2011 competition.

She was crowned winner of the pageant on Dec. 5 at The Hartford Marriott Farmington Hotel Farmington in Connecticut.


Sojka will represent Connecticut in the Miss Teen USA 2011 pageant.

The 18-year-old Granby, Conn., resident is a part of the RIC Dance Apprentice Company. She is undecided on her major.

“I was confident in everything I did and made some amazing friends throughout the pageant,” Sojka said. “When I heard my name, I broke into tears of joy because I knew all of my hard work paid off. I am so excited to represent the state of Connecticut for the next year.”

As Miss Connecticut Teen USA, Sojka said she will be working with many different organizations, including Girl Talk, Best Buddies, Sparrow Club and Project Sunshine.
