RIAIAW honors Kayla DiBlasi
RIC senior Kayla DiBlasi of Smithfield received a Distinguished Student-Athlete Award from the Rhode Island Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (RIAIAW) at a banquet hosted by the Community College of Rhode Island on May 5.
DiBlasi, a nursing major, has succeeded in the classroom and in both indoor and outdoor track and field. Over the course of her career, DiBlasi has earned 19 N.E. All-Alliance honors, two All-ECAC performances, one All-New England placement and been named the team MVP three times.
She is the program record-holder in the 500m, 600m, 60m hurdles and as part of the 4x400m relay for the indoor season. She holds the RIC records in the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles and as part of the 4x400m relay for the outdoor season.
DiBlasi was also honored at the Rhode Island State House as a Scholar-Athlete at an annual reception held in the House Chamber on May 2.
