The Adoption and Foster Care Educational Collaborative held a ceremony to honor 16 graduates who have recently completed the Certificate in Clinical Issues in Adoption and Foster Care Program. The event took place on June 24 in the School of Social Work.

Kevin Aucoin, acting director of the Department of Children, Youth & Families, was one of the keynote speakers at the certificate ceremony.
The certificate recipients were Kimberly A. Schuller, Colleen Thompson, Melissa Coe, Paula Persechino, Jennifer Young, Elizabeth Capron, Barbara Keefe, Kimberly M. Smith, Angela P. Gomes, Julie DiBari, Sarah C. Brown, Meaghan Wasilewski, Diane Savage, Michael H. Kane, Maureen Robbins and Kathleen A. Letourneau.

The certificate program was established at Rhode Island College in 2007 and is a collaborative effort of Adoption Rhode Island, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, the Child Welfare Training Institute and Rhode Island College.

The program offers comprehensive training and professional development in adoption and foster care. It is designed to educate the human service community so that families formed through foster care, adoption, kinship care, and legal guardianship, as well as birth families, have access to skilled, informed clinical care.

The graduates recognized June 24 were the second group to have completed the certificate requirements.
