Two lectures to highlight life and work of Frantz Fanon - Nov. 10 and 17

The Program in Africana Studies at Rhode Island College will host two public lectures marking the 50th anniversary of the passing of cultural and political icon Frantz Fanon, and of the publication of his seminal book, "The Wretched of the Earth."

The commemoration begins on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m. with a public lecture by noted Fanonian scholar Nigel Gibson of Emerson College titled “Fanonian Practices in South Africa.”

On Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m., philosopher Lewis Gordon of Temple University will discuss “Three Guilty of Thinking While Black: Joseph Auguste Anténor Firmin, Frantz Omar Fanon, and Steve Bantu Biko.”

Both lectures will take place in Adams Library (Fortes Room).
